Businesses recruiting sincerely in a particular field or for an extended period often choose to apply for an LMIA pre-approval. Its intention is for businesses that hire foreign workers or foreign workers soon.

An LMIA pre-approval is an approval “in principle.” Essentially, it is an approval for hiring a foreign worker for the position. Upon a successful LMIA pre-approval, foreign workers get recruited to fill a given position in hopes of being accepted. However, LMIA pre-approvals are not person-specific. Once a temporary foreign worker receives an offer for the position, you must apply for a person-specific LMIA and be successful.
